Objectives
STEP2LAB focuses on capacity-building spanning both the prison services and private industries.
The project targets incarcerated adults, young inmates and staff from organisations involved in prison work, either from prison administrations or specific private industries. Hence, the initiative seeks to equip the project beneficiaries with skills that will allow them to outline effective and collaborative itineraries for the socio-labour integration of inmates. |
STEP2LAB “Systematic Transition from Prison into the Labour Market” project aims to address the needs of the target groups by providing a capacity-building package to both prison services and private industries in terms of setting effective prison work strategies and configuring a model suitable to each country’s needs.
It will introduce continuous improvement protocols and define standards of cooperation with employers. In addition, the project will strive to empower staff to deliver standardised and certified initial training to inmates in areas that meet the labour market needs. |
OBJECTIVES:
1. Creating a replicable process to enhance prison services and private industries’ collaboration in developing and implementing thoughtful procedures for inmate employment; 2. Producing a model of guidance, training and insertion for prison inmates. This enhanced career plan includes continuous learning, job qualification and employers’ preparation for recruiting inmates after release (To be tested with 36 inmates per participant country); 3. Developing a standard induction training to be provided to inmates’ willing to acquire new industry-specific skills needed in the job market (Also to be tested with 36 inmates per participant country); 4. Designing a “Train the Trainer” course on setting up and managing STEP2LAB processes and models (To be delivered to prison and private industries’ staff). |
